One of the biggest fundraising days in DFW is almost upon us. North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online fundraising event hosted by the Communities Foundation of Texas where people are encouraged to donate to the nonprofits of their choice and help local charities fulfill their missions. This year it will take place on September 20th, so mark your calendars!
North Texas Giving Day has been a tremendous success each year since it began 10 years ago. In that time, almost 650,000 have collectively raised over $200 million for Dallas area nonprofits.
What makes North Texas Giving Day so meaningful to me is that it's very inclusive. Nonprofits of all sizes are encouraged to register for the event, making it possible for people to contribute to very large nonprofits like United Way and North Texas Food Bank or smaller ones like Heart House and Samaratin Inn.
This year, to lead up to the event, Communities Foundation of Texas will be organizing the 10 Days of Giving, starting on Sept. 10th, there will be multiple opportunities for community members to volunteer their time with different organizations such as SPARK!, CitySquare, and Mission Arlington. For more information about those opportunities visit: https://www.voly.org/causes/north-texas-giving-day.html
If you want to give, but don't know which organizations to support, here are a list of some organizations that I love supporting:
-Communities Foundation of Texas
-Genesis Women's Shelter & Support
-Paper for Water
-SoupMobile
-The Bridge
-Union
Dallas is a city of problem solvers. That's why we have so many nonprofits trying to tackle so many different issues. And I'm glad we have events like North Texas Giving Day to come together and support them.
So on September 20th, support your favorite causes and charities, and spread the word about the event. Anything you can contribute makes a difference. You can find any additional information at northtexasgivingday.org
