I had the privilege of being able to attend the launch party for the Dallas chapter of the New Leaders Council (NLC). The organization brought in some very impressive speakers who talked about mobilization and the importance of civic servants actively serving their communities.
I was able to meet Michael Blake, the Vice Chair of the Democratic National Conference, and could talk with him about his experiences leading a political movement at that level. I got to meet with Aditi Hardikar, the former LGBT liaison in the Obama adminstration, La'Shadion Shemwell, McKinney City Councilman, along with many others who want to take an active role in making our community stronger.
I'm looking forward to what NLC is going to be able to do to change the climate here in Dallas and move us in a positive and more progressive direction.
