“We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's easy to say "It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem." Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes.” -Fred Rogers
Today is Fred Roger's birthday, and it seems fitting to share one of his great moments offstage when he asked Congress to continue funding PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
His show was about building a better community. He wanted all of us to think about way to make our society more tolerant and more thoughtful.
Public broadcasting is a necessity to educate our communities in ways that for-profit media won't implore because they could make more money broadcasting significantly less educational programs.
Contact your federal representatives and encourage them to do what Mr. Rogers believed was right, and support public broadcasting.
