Trevor Noah shares a poem to describe the difficulty for Black Americans to protest

The saddest part of last night's episode of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah was when Noah read a poem that outlined all of the difficulties that influential Black Americans faced as they tried to address the issue around police brutality. Celebrities and public figures were being berated for acting out on public forums like social media sites as well as public events such as football games or concerts. They're instead encouraged to protest in private where their voices would not be heard.

The poem goes as such:

"It’s wrong to do it in the streets

It’s wrong to do it in the tweets

You cannot do it on the field

You cannot do it if you’ve kneeled

And don’t do it if you’re rich

You ungrateful son of a bitch

Because there’s one thing that’s a fact,

You can’t protest if you’re black."
