Animated films are one of the most sophisticated aft forms around, and I believe that Annapurna Studios and Laika Animation have proven this with their most recent film, Missing Link.
In their iconic stop-motion style. the creators tell a story of discovery, progress, and humanity where an adventurer meets a Sasquatch and helps him find his cousins, the Yetis in the hidden land of Shangri-La.
I'm not sure if it was the mesmerizing imagery the animators were able to express on-screen or if it was the beautiful relationships between two outcasts looking to find a community they've dreamed of joining for their whole lives.
When I first watched this movie, I immediately told my brother to watch it and saw it with him. Viewing it a second time still made me feel the same rainbow of emotions I felt the first time I watched it just two hours prior.
There are a lot of people who will write off animated films and assume that they aren't of the same quality of live-action films. I've always disagreed with this notion and believe that some animated movies can be of a higher quality than most live-action films (looking at you Toy Story 3).
This is one of those movies that the whole family can enjoy whether they like animated films or not. It's a movie about adventure, about identity, and about love. I cannot recommend it enough.
